Native American Drum

Ryker had his first school project assigned recently.  They sent home an empty coffee can with instructions to decorate it as a Native American drum.  All the students in Kindergarten were given the assignment and are going to use their drums in a drum circle before Thanksgiving break.  Ryker was eager to start on his drum so we got to work tonight.  We looked up some images of traditional drums online and combined a few things.  This is what we came up with.

I drew feather shapes on different colored construction paper and he cut them all out.

This was the lid piece.  He traced the circle, cut it out and drew all the trees, etc.  He loved getting to use his glitter glue for the autumn and winter trees.

He was so proud of his work.  I was pretty proud of myself for letting him do it all on his own.  He did a great job!
