Laboring on Labor Day

We spent all day today on several projects around the house.  We have finally started on the nursery and decided to redo the half bath downstairs at the same time.  We're still finishing some final touches on the boys' room too.

This entire week has been full of little projects though.  We've had stuff that needed to be hung FOREVER now and Robert and I just haven't made the time to do it.  I made it a point to get it done this week and was so happy to see some things marked off the to do list.

We got new curtains for the family room a while back and I finally bought a curtain rod for the dining room and we moved the white linen ones from the family room into the dining room.

I've been searching for something to hold Ryker's backbag (and eventually coat, etc.) for a while.  I finally found this for a great price at TJ Maxx Home Goods and Robert hung it for me.  It's perfect.  I just need a picture above it to finish it off.  I found a great frame at Ikea, but have yet to decide on a picture to put in it.

My mom found this basket at an vintage and antiques market. I knew I wanted it right there and so it sat on the floor for weeks.  Robert finally hung it...yay!

We had a big, brass fixture in the entry way before.  We found this oil rubbed bronze one that pulls in the new doorknobs we installed.  Plus, it's more flush with the ceiling and make the entry feel taller.  Yay!

Now, for our work today.  Robert had a great time painting the half bath by lamp light after he removed the old light fixture to paint behind it, etc.

Mom came over in the afternoon and we got busy on lots of smaller paint projects for the bathroom, nursery, and boys' room.

Cam napped for most of the time and Ryker helped paint a bit and played outside.

Mom spray painted Ryker's old nightstand and baskets for the nursery.

Robert and Mom both worked on painting the nursery.  The color scheme is pink and gray.  Three walls are a light gray and the back wall where the crib will be is a dark gray.  We're actually going to stencil a design on it too, but weren't able to start today because we wanted the base color to cure well before sticking and resticking the wall stencil again and again.

We replaced the light fixture, mirror, and got a new towel ring in the proper position (it was above the toilet before!?!) in the half bath.

I am on the lookout for some art for above the toilet.  Next phase for this space is a new toilet, sink, faucet, and counter top.  We are going to paint the base cabinet and replace the hardware.

What a productive day!  Now, to have enough energy to finish all this stuff!  ;-)
