Our church's children's ministry, Joyland, had a skating party tonight at the Roller Cave. Ryker and I decided to check out the action.
He has never been skating before. It was a rough start but he kept getting back up. He tried and tried for a long time but after a particularly bad fall he got frustrated and was hurt. He called it quits and decided to enjoy the bounce house for a while instead. He returned sweating like a pig and grinning from ear to ear again.
He decided to lace up the skates and try again. He improved quickly and was doing pretty decent by the end. I was so proud of him for not giving up and trying even though it wasn't easy for him. This is something Ryker really struggles with and something we are trying to teach him to work through. I was so happy to see him do it all on his own. He has added roller skates to his Christmas list because as he said he can "practice at home all the time and the next time he'll be really good!"
A group shot of the kids and some of the adults that were there. I'm so thankful for our church and their heart for children. I love that our kids get to grow up in a church body that values them and invests in them.
