1st Hockey Game

Robert recently watched The Mighty Ducks movies with the boys.  Ryker has become obsessed with hockey.  He and Cam have been "skating" in their socks around the hardwood floors using brooms as hockey sticks and a coaster for a puck.  It's hilarious and awesome.  When we were at the State Fair in August we picked up a flyer from Indy's new hockey team, Indy Fuel.  I pulled it out a few weeks ago and looked on their website.  They were having a preseason game today with a Family Day afterwards.  Tickets were only $10 and all the players were available for autographs after the game.
We ended up with seats only two rows up right next to the goal.  They were awesome!

There was TONS of action and it was so much fun.  We score quickly and it was a shut out at 3-0.  Ryker and I were making up cheers and he loved when they slammed into the glass right in front of us.

They kept announcing to watch for flying pucks.  We thought we were safe since the glass was right in front of us and there was a net above it all the way to the ceiling.  However, a bit further down the glass only goes up about 2/3 of the way and a puck flew right in the corner of where the shorter and taller parts met and flew directly toward us.  It zipped right past Robert's head and I ducked down.  Sadly, the sweet 9 year old boy behind us had no clue it was coming and took the puck straight to his lower neck right below his throat.  Officials were very quick to respond and ushered him straight to medical attention.  He came back a bit later with an ice pack and a brand new full size hockey stick.  Ryker immediately wanted one, but we assured him he didn't want to go through what that poor boy did to get it!  Thankfully he was fine and we all enjoyed the rest of the game.  We couldn't believe how close we came to getting hit!

Getting his shirt signed by all the players after the game.

He got to dance with Nitro during the game and was excited to get his autograph too.

He was so excited about his shirt!

We went downtown to Punch Burger afterwards for dinner.  It was so much fun to get one on one time with our big boy.  We love him so and want him to know how special he is to us.
