Settling In...

We're starting to settle into life as a family of five around here.  Our days have been filled with visitors, a few fits from a 2-year-old, snuggles, naps, and lots of love!

This little boy is loving his new role as big brother!

I swear she gets cuter every day!

Thursday was Riella's newborn appointment with Dr. Anderson.  She checked out great and had already started to gain back weight from her hospital release weight the day before.  We did find out that she has a herniated belly button.  Thankfully, it should go away on its own and will not require any surgery and is not dangerous at all.

Trying out a headband for the first time.  So much fun!

Robert bought a new leaf blower the other day and he and the boys had a great time playing in the big piles.

Grandma and Grandpa stopped by to meet Miss Riella.  Grandma was excited to meet her namesake. :-)

It's not often we get a girl in the Kennedy clan so Grandpa was loving her little girly noises and clothes.

Thankfully Riella isn't letting her crazy brothers interfere with her beauty sleep.  She passed out after a feeding session and slept quite soundly while Robert and the boys got in some wrestling fun.

I love catching her sweet smile on camera.  You can't help but smile when you see a baby smiling.  :-)

Ryker got in lots of cuddle time with Sissy this weekend.  He's already saying he doesn't want to go to school tomorrow because he wants to stay with Riella all day every day.  Sweet boy!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Today is my 30th birthday.  If you had told me 15 years ago that I would be spending my 30th birthday anxiously awaiting release from the hospital after having my third child I would've laughed in your face.  This is not the future I saw for myself whatsoever, but boy am I glad it's the one I'm living!  God's plans for our lives are always so much better than those we have for ourselves!

Robert took off early this morning again to get the boys from my mom.  Being trapped in the hospital was rough for Cam yesterday so Robert told me he thought he'd let him play at home for a while and run some errands before bringing him up.  Riella and I enjoyed some extra sleep and quality time while we waited on them to get there. Robert arrived around 11:30 with Michelle and Tony.  Robert said he'd been out buying my birthday present.
Chelsey (my OB) stopped by on her lunch break from her surgery day just to cuddle Riella for a bit.  She is such an incredibly kind doctor and I'm so thankful for her.  It was great to know that Riella and I were in such good care with her.
By this point in every hospital stay I am BEYOND ready to go home.

I wasn't sure if her newborn size outfit was going to fit, but it was just fine.  Ok, a little short in the sleeves, but it was fine!  She looked absolutely precious!

This picture melts my heart!  Just when I think I can't love him more...

All ready to go home!

On the way home, I decided to call the upholstery place to see if they had my chair for the nursery done yet.  I mentioned that I was going to call as I was looking up the number, etc. and Robert asked if I was going to call once we got home.  I had already dialed and left a voicemail message and he never said a word.  Then, we got home.  I was busy unpacking and putting things away when I found his jacket balled up on the floor of the coat closet.  I lifted it up to put it on a hanger and a bunch of fabric fell out.  I looked at it and realized it was the fabric for the recliner.  I was so confused and started asking him about as I climbed the stairs.  When I got to the nursery, I found this....

I was so surprised and so incredibly happy too! It's no wonder he was gone for so long this morning!

Ryker got off the bus shortly after we arrived home and couldn't wait to get his hands on Sissy.

Mom and Dad brought us dinner from Outback Steakhouse (I got to choose since I'm the birthday girl) and Mom took this family picture of us.  I kinda think it's amazing.  Cam is hilarious and I just love this little family so much I could burst!

Day 2- Visitors

Spending some quality time with Daddy.

My mom stayed the night with the boys at our house and Robert came home early to relieve her so she could get to work and he got Ryker on the bus, etc. before coming back up to the hospital with Cam.  Day 2 and he was still just as excited to his hands on Sissy.

Taylor and Jay came to visit after Jay got out of school.  Taylor didn't tell her they were coming and totally surprised her.  It was really sweet!

Papaw came up after work

So thankful for my parents.  They are such a huge help!

She looked so tiny all balled up I had to take a picture to remember.

Aunt Diane came for a visit too.

Poor girl scratched her face during the night.  :-(

Auntie Em came too!

Poor Pepaw came right as Riella was ready to nurse again.  She was pretty mad I tried to hold her off.

Welcome Riella Joan Brown!

Today was the big day- induction day!  Robert and I were up bright and early to get ready.  The boys must've felt the excitement in the air and got up early too.  My mom came over and stayed with the boys and got Ryker on the bus while we were at the hospital.

One last picture with my boys before becoming a mom of three!
In our room ready to go!

The doc came in and broke my water at 8:00.  They started the pitocin at 8:30.  They increased the dosage every 30 minutes.  The contractions started right away and grew closer and higher in intensity just like they should.  I progressed nicely and by 10:00 my mom was calling for my aunt Karen to come relieve her so she could meet us at the hospital.  The contractions started to get pretty intense and I decided to go ahead and get the epidural.  After we were settled back in the doc came over at lunch because they were having a hard time monitoring the contractions with the external monitor.  She put an internal one in.  The contractions were a lot weaker than before but much closer together.  They said they'd give me some more time and then up the dosage again at 2:00 if I wasn't continuing to progress.  At 1:10 I paged the nurse because I felt like I needed her to come relieve my bladder.  She said it'd be a few minutes.  I quickly went from feeling like I needed to pee to feeling like I needed to push.  My father-in-law, sister-in-law, and nephew were all in the room.  Robert was in the back talking to them and didn't understand I needed her to come quicker.  My mom went out in the hall, found the nurse and brought her in.  They quickly ushered everyone else out and she checked me to find that yes, indeed, I was ready to push.  We called the doc and waited for her to come over as they set up the room for delivery.  As soon as Dr. R arrived, she suited up and I began pushing.  Just like with Cam, it was one big push for her head and another one right after for her body...and just like that...she was here!
I love/hate this picture.  I hate my double chin, but the look on my face says a thousand words.  There is nothing in this world quite like meeting your child for the first time.  That moment they put her on your chest and you look at her for the first time is unlike any other experience I've ever had.  I've cried out of sheer happiness each time I've delivered and I'm crying now as I describe it.  Everything about pregnancy and birth is such a miracle and I just feel at awe to be a part of it.
She arrived at 1:42 pm

She weighed in at a very healthy (and shocking!) 9lbs. 0.5 oz. and was 22" long.

Nonno meeting his new birthday buddy!

Papaw with his first granddaughter.

Nonna's turn

Because things went so quickly, it took Karen a while to get the boys up to the hospital.  She had to pick up Ryker from the school and everything.  They still got there shortly after we let everyone else in though.  They were so excited!

Camden couldn't wait to get his hands on her and was mad when anyone else tried to hold her.

Like I said, he was pretty happy about it.

Sweet Riella Joan Brown.  As for her name, she is named after two of her great-grandmothers.  Riella is the feminine version of Riello, which is Robert's Nonna's maiden name.  Joan is my grandmother's name.

Daddy is so excited to have his girl here safe and sound.

First picture as a family of 5!

Proud momma
After everyone cleared out, they finally gave her her first bath.  She was not a fan!

We were excited to get a closer look at her hair once it was all clean.  She has the exact same amount of hair of the boys (if not a bit more), but it has more blonde in than either of theirs did.  It'll be interesting to see what it settles into in the long run.

So fresh and clean

Baby Girl has some big feet!
Our nurse made her an adorable hat complete with a bow.

Early Birthday Celebration

In light of tomorrow's induction, we decided to celebrate Tony and I's birthdays early.  We had breakfast over at my in-laws and celebrated together.  Tony's birthday is tomorrow.  He is thrilled to be welcoming his first granddaughter on his birthday. :-)

The little boys sat at the bar together.

We had some helpers when it came to blowing out the candles.

One more belly pic with the sister! Less than 3 months until that sweet new nephew is here!

And...for the sweetest picture ever...my sweet boy loving on his sister. :-)

Trick or Treating (Take 2)

The weather was pretty severe here on Halloween night so trick or treating was postponed to Friday evening.  We typically skip regular trick or treating in favor of our church's Harvest Hoedown event.  Since it's indoors, we still did that last night.  My cousin invited us to join them for trick or treating in their neighborhood tonight.  Robert had to work late so I thought it'd be a great way to entertain the kids.  Unfortunately, within a few minutes of getting started Camden spied a guy in a scary costume and wanted me to hold him...the entire time. He got down here and there, but for the most part, I carried his 28 lb. booty and his bucket of candy through most of the neighborhood.  My back was killing me by the time we were done and I was ready for bed!  Ryker, however, had the best time running around with his cousins, so I guess it was worth it.  ;-)
Ashlyn (Sofia the First), Tyler (pumpkin), Carter (astronaut), Ryker (Batman), and Robin (Camden) before we got started.  Warren was a court jester but wasn't into holding still for a photo.

Ryker and Carter led the way the entire night.

At the very end of the evening we stopped and got my cousin's wagon for Camden.  He was quite happy to sit and enjoy his sucker and this tired mom finally got a break!

These two are such buds.  :-)
